October 13 update: We’re officially moving this event to Sunday, October 15 at 12:00 PM. When parking, please use the lot area closer to the tennis courts so as not to interfere with YMCA patrons.

October 12 update: We’re keeping a close eye on the weather for this event. We’ll be posting an update Friday with a possible move to Sunday at noon!

Kalamazoo-based sound artist and percussionist Mike Weis (Zelienople), along with Chicago musicians Steven Hess (Locrian, Cleared) and bass clarinet player Keefe Jackson – collectively known as Slow Bell Trio – will perform an improvised concert of ambient music in the Kleinstuck Preserve.

Joining Slow Bell Trio will be P.M. Tummala (harmonium/percussion) and Chilean trumpeter Benjamin Vergara.

Attendees should meet at the tennis courts behind the Maple Street YMCA. As the audience will be walking to a location without seating, we recommend wearing appropriate footwear and bringing a portable chair. The hike to the performance location takes about 10 to 15 minutes.

A $10 cash suggested donation per person will be accepted on-site.
