Musician's Notes

This is one of my favorite murals in town. I think the high use of Green and Red give me a calming yet energized feeling. I wrote this music not to describe the painting but the energy of change surrounding it.

There is a lot of change happening in Kalamazoo. Surfaces, communities, and financial factors are being grown or torn down daily. Very relevant to the rest of the world. I know nothing of good or bad but I do know of change. It’s often mysterious, never predictable, and juxtaposes feelings of hope and despair. Still, it is one thing that is constant and connects all nations and living organisms.

This piece is an allegory, an oxymoron, a time portal forward and back. A representation of Green, Red, and Change and the mixed feelings they may induce.
